Google Assistant, Siri, and Alexa are all well-known voice assistants that many people use on a regular basis. As for Samsung devices, the Korean giant is now bringing major improvements with Bixby assistant update. With One UI 5.1, the new text call feature should work in English across select models like the S23 series, Z Fold 4, and Flip 4.
Users will be able to customize the tone of Bixby’s voice using their custom voice creator option – currently only available in Korea. In addition to this, users will be able to assign a custom wake-up phrase as well as take advantage of enhanced contextual understanding and remembering of previous conversations. Furthermore, Samsung is introducing an ‘on-device mode’ to allow Bixby to recognize and process commands without requiring an internet connection – there are six languages supported with this feature. Starting from February 2023 these improvements will become available to Galaxy users via software update.
As we mentioned, customizing Bixby’s Text Call voice is possible with the help of the custom voice creator option available only in Korea. But this feature will soon be rolled out to other Samsung apps too which will let users record different sentences for the assistant to learn from and create an AI version of their own voice. Moreover, it will support a custom wake-up phrase, so you can have a phrase of your choice activate the assistant.
Samsung’s voice assistant is getting more intelligent, as it’s capable of understanding context and remembering past conversations. This will allow users to ask Bixby to play the music that best suits their workout when they launch the Samsung Health app. The virtual assistant will still work even without an internet connection, as long as it is performing simple tasks like taking screenshots and setting a timer. However, this upgrade will only be available in English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, and Korean languages. These newly improved Bixby assistant update with all its features will be released in February 2023.
