The German company producing extremely high quality optical lenses, binoculars, rifle opticians and microscopes, 4 years ago received a smartphones manufacturers attention. After a while the first Huawei Mate 20 Pro with Leica lens was introduced in the market. Leica lenses were later used in other Huawei smartphones, and this year it was integrated into the Xiaomi 12S camera. Which, by the way, received stunningly good ratings for exceptional quality photos.
Although Leica was currently lending its logo to the Xiaomi 12S series, until recently, Leica has revealed releasing its own smartphone. This week German company unveiled more exquisite details that will emphasise the Leica Leitz 2 phone.
The Leica Leitz 2 is based on the Sharp Aquaos design with a slightly redesigned body that has sharp corners. Due to the white body, the red Leica logo is obviously distinguished. Above this logo, there’s a dominant 47.2MP camera with a 1 inch sensor and f/1.9 aperture for a clearly visible 19 mm lens. The Leica Leitz 2 camera has a metal lens cap for both exclusive style and protection.
Main specifications also make an impression. Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC processor will take care of all the inside processes, were 12GB of RAM and 512GB internal memory also comes into play. The 5000 mAh battery supplies the 6.6 inch 240Hz display in 2730 x 1260 resolution.
Like many Leica products, the Leica Leitz 2 smartphone is not cheap. The latest Leica device will cost $1580 and will be almost as expensive as Galaxy Z Fold 4. Sales of this flagship in Japan starts on November 18th. And as the manufacturer claims, it won’t be exported to other countries. However, the latest Leica phone will also be sold through global trading platforms, but for significantly higher market price. Which will also contribute to shipping costs and taxes.
However, as the company’s mobile phones are gaining popularity and recognition among consumers, it’s just a matter of time before they will be available in other countries too.
