OnePlus announced its first smartphone back in 2014. At that time it was just a small company with an ambitious goals in smartphones competitive market and it seemed hopeless for a new third party manufacturer to get in the game. But thanks to great price/quality ratio, OnePlus One made its way to the top and has fulfilled company’s expectations in many ways.
This month company has released its third flagship smartphone and its fourth smartphone altogether. The OnePlus 3 is an iteration of its previous versions, but this time it comes with a brand new look that really sets this phone apart.
The careful attention that was put into the design of the OnePlus 3, makes it one of the thinnest flagman in today’s market. And it’s hard to believe how manufacturer can fit all those components into such a thin 7.4mm aluminum metal frame.
While 5.5 inch screen may not fit everyone’s standard, this device is still among the easily manageable phones with such a screen size.
Whole finish is excellent too. The rear side spots the same type of brushed aluminum look that can be found on an iPhone. That makes this handset a delight to both look at and hold.
The bottom edge features a single powerful speaker, which is next to Type-C USB port and 3.5mm audio jack.
As usual, power button is fitted on the right side of the edge. On the left side there’s a new alert slider button, which comes in handy when you need to quickly turn your phone into silent mode. Only the top side of the frame doesn’t contain any buttons or connection ports.
OnePlus 3 uses a Sony IMX298 sensor at the heart of its rear camera, giving it 16 megapixels with a 1.12µm pixel size. There’s a 8 megapixel Sony IMX179 sensor on the front, offering 1.4µm pixels and an f/2.0 lens, which should be great for making selfies in low light conditions.
The last great improvement that must be mentioned is 6GB of RAM, smacking down the 4GB that’s common in most rivals. This makes phone really fast, especially when switching through lots of different apps and running them in background.
In general, it’s a high quality smartphone delivering clean and slim device experience. Looking at the price range, you definitely would pay twice as much for any other great known manufacturer device, similar with its specifications.
OnePlus 3 available in Europe for €390.
